Memphis Airport Authority gets new board member

The Memphis City Council has approved the appointment of Pamela Z. Clary to serve on the Memphis-Shelby County Airport board of commissioners.

Clary was nominated by Memphis A C Wharton to replace Ruby Wharton, whose term expired on December 31, 2012.

Clary joins the board immediately and her term will expire December 31, 2020.

Clary is executive vice president and a partner for Community Capital LLC, a local firm that provides affordable housing and community development consulting and financial advisory services.

She is the former deputy director of finance and deputy director of Housing and Community Development for the City of Memphis.

Jack Sammons, chairman of the MSCAA board, called Clary’s appointment “a superb choice” by Wharton.

The airport is trying to create more nonstop flights out of Memphis through a variety of carriers as Delta Air Lines Inc. (NYSE:DAL) continues to cut service at Memphis International Airport.
